When integrated with effective industrial relations mechanisms, these interventions help organisations manage human issues systematically while maintaining industrial harmony and organisational effectiveness. Counseling is a structured process through which trained professionals or supervisors help employees identify, understand, and overcome personal or work-related problems affecting their performance and well-being. Employee counseling focuses on emotional support, problem-solving, stress reduction, conflict resolution, and career concerns. It provides employees with a confidential environment to express their concerns without fear of discrimination or punishment. Counseling plays a significant role in managing employee well-being by addressing psychological stress, anxiety, depression, work-life imbalance, family issues, financial concerns, substance abuse, and emotional exhaustion. Early counseling interventions reduce absenteeism, burnout, and workplace accidents while promoting mental health and job satisfaction. Unlike counseling, coaching primarily focuses on future performance, skill enhancement, and capability development rather than emotional problems.
