The quality of employment in the country has deteriorated, particularly during the 1990s, according to a recent paper on emerging employment trends in India. Also, there is a huge mismatch between expectations and job opportunities for the educated lot.

Any employment strategy, therefore, needs to focus more on quality, says a paper, Recent trends in Indian labour market and emerging issues of employment and income security, brought out by the Institute for Human Development, New Delhi.
