### Global Strategies for Sustainable Development  

Sustainable development is a global priority that aims to balance economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental protection. Over the years, various global strategies have been developed to promote sustainability, particularly in urban areas where rapid urbanization and population growth present challenges. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by the United Nations in 2015, provide a comprehensive framework for achieving sustainability across different sectors. Among these, SDG 11—Sustainable Cities and Communities—focuses on making cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.  

### Key Global Strategies for Sustainable Development  

#### 1. The Paris Agreement and Climate Resilience in Cities  
The Paris Agreement, signed in 2015, is a landmark international treaty aimed at mitigating climate change and adapting to its impacts. Cities contribute significantly to global carbon emissions, and climate resilience has become a key focus for sustainable urban planning. Global initiatives such as C40 Cities, which brings together nearly 100 megacities, are promoting policies to reduce carbon footprints, enhance green infrastructure, and integrate climate adaptation measures into urban development.  

Many countries are implementing low-carbon strategies, such as promoting electric vehicles (EVs), investing in renewable energy, and developing smart grids. Smart urban planning integrates energy-efficient buildings, sustainable transport systems, and urban greening projects to enhance climate resilience and reduce dependency on fossil fuels.  

#### 2. New Urban Agenda (Habitat III) and Smart Cities  
The New Urban Agenda, adopted at the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) in 2016, provides a roadmap for sustainable urbanization. It promotes integrated urban planning, mixed-use development, and compact city models to minimize environmental impact and enhance accessibility to essential services.
