Explain the role of Interpol in combating IPR crime.

Interpol is the world’s pre-eminent police organisation which endeavours to prevent, detect and suppress crime. Interpol has created a multi-agency working group known as the Interpol Intellectual Property Crime Action Group (IIPCAG). This group has representatives from the police, customs, inter-governmental organizations and private sector associations. The group works as a forum for coordinating and enhancing international action against intellectual property crime. The group is led by representatives of Interpol with participation and support from national police and customs agencies, representatives of rights holders, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the World Customs Organisation and the European Commission. The basic objectives of this group are as follow:
