Taxonomy of Projection in Computer Graphics:

Projection is the process of mapping 3D objects onto a 2D plane. There are two major categories of projection in computer graphics:

Parallel projection
Perspective projection
Parallel projection is further divided into two categories: orthographic and oblique projection.

Perspective projection is further divided into three categories: one-point perspective, two-point perspective, and three-point perspective.

Comparison and Contrast of Parallel and Perspective Projection:

Parallel Projection:

In parallel projection, parallel lines remain parallel after projection. This type of projection is used in technical and engineering drawings. Orthographic projection is a type of parallel projection in which the projection lines are perpendicular to the projection plane.

In oblique projection, the projection lines are not perpendicular to the projection plane. One of the most common types of oblique projection is the cavalier projection. In a cavalier projection, the projection lines are at 45 degrees to the projection plane.

Perspective Projection:

In perspective projection, parallel lines appear to converge at a single point, known as the vanishing point. This type of projection is used in art, architecture, and video games.
