The campaign aimed to highlight the pervasive issue of sexual harassment and assault, especially in the workplace, and encouraged survivors to share their stories. It soon spread globally, transforming from a simple hashtag into a widespread political and social campaign. The participation patterns in the #MeToo movement were particularly compelling due to their diversity. People from all walks of life, including celebrities, politicians, academics, and ordinary citizens, took part. The hashtag not only allowed survivors of sexual assault to share their personal stories but also provided them with a platform to feel validated and supported.
