# Family Figure Study with Portraiture and Position A family portrait is one of the most meaningful forms of portraiture because it combines the study of individual faces with the representation of relationships, emotions, gestures, and physical positions. In a creative portraiture assignment involving two or three family members, the artist is expected not merely to copy the appearance of the models but also to understand their individual personalities and show the relationship between them through composition. The artwork therefore becomes a combination of portrait study, figure study, observation, colour handling, and creative arrangement. Since the prescribed medium is watercolour and the work is to be executed on Full Imperial paper, careful planning of the composition, proportion, tonal values, colour harmony, and placement of figures becomes especially important. The first stage of the artwork is selecting two or three family members who can be represented together naturally.
