Recent studies indicate that women in cities face an alarming amount of gender-based violence, harassment, and discrimination. Whether it's in crowded marketplaces, busy public transport systems, or even the seemingly safe confines of their own homes, women are constantly navigating these urban spaces with a heightened sense of vigilance.

To understand the scope of this issue, we spoke to several women who live in major cities across the globe. What they shared with us may surprise you.

Her words resonate with many women, regardless of where they live. Whether it’s in New York, Mumbai, or London, the issue of safety for women in big cities is universal. Studies show that more than 80% of women in large urban centers have reported experiencing some form of harassment, ranging from catcalling and inappropriate advances to more severe forms of sexual violence.
