Representative Concentration Pathway
Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs) are a set of scenarios used in climate modeling to project future greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations in the Earth's atmosphere. These scenarios are used to assess potential future climate changes, impacts, and mitigation strategies. RCPs were developed as part of the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which was published in 2014. They replaced the previous set of scenarios known as Special Report on Emissions Scenarios (SRES).
