‘Palanquin Bearers’ is the first poem in the first section of The Golden Threshold which has three sections i.e. Folk Songs, Songs for Music and Poems. ‘Palanquin Bearers’ was composed on Aug. 7, 1903, as is borne out by the facsimile of the poem in Sarojini Naidu’s handwriting.
