Explain the ethnic and cultural diversity of Australia.

 Multiculturalism in Australia, as a policy perspective, had had at least three major objectives: (i) to ensure social cohesion in a society which has become highly diverse on account of immigration from over 100 countries and 200 ethnic groups; (ii) to utilise the cultural capital represented by the growing diversities in the economic arena, what the economists call the 'productivity diversity'; and (iii) to promote global consciousness among its citizenry based on inter-cultural dialogue and mutual recognition
