Explain the concept of ethical retailing. Which are the three major areas of retailing where ethical behaviour counts? Elaborate them briefly.

Retailers need to form their own code of conduct while dealing with myriads of day to day retailing issues and problems. Generally, it is assumed by all retailers that if they maintain legality of all their actions and follow all the rules as specified by the law then they will be following all the ethical dos and don’ts. But that may not be always the case, legal behaviour and ethical behaviour could be different. It needs to be understood that many a times laws are formed to suit certain political compulsions of the time, and hence, need not be the most ethical ones. For example, certain countries permit sale of animal Fur based products which are considered absolutely legal, but a retailer who may think killing of animals for extracting their Fur skin is unethical may not agree for such a sale.
