Explain Herzberg’s Two-factor Theory and his concept of Job Enrichment.

Herzberg’s Theory of Motivation falls under the Content Theory as it focusses on internal and external flictors that affect individual’s mot ivat ion.Taking a cue from Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory, Herzberg came up with his Two-Factor Theory; also called Motivation-Hygiene Theory. He divided the factors affecting motivation and satisfaction based on ‘maintenance’ and ‘growth’. These maintenance fàctors were the hygiene factors for Herzberg, which were concerned with job-enrichment; factors that were ‘extrinsic’ to the work itself.
