Sri Aurobindo's Integral Yoga is a comprehensive spiritual system that aims at the complete transformation of human consciousness. It goes beyond traditional paths of yoga which often emphasize liberation or moksha as the final goal. For Sri Aurobindo, the highest aim is not escape from life but divinisation of life itself—a spiritual evolution culminating in the manifestation of the Divine in every aspect of existence. Integral Yoga, also known as *Purna Yoga*, seeks not only individual liberation but also collective spiritual transformation and the realization of a divine life on earth. Integral Yoga is "integral" because it harmonizes all the traditional systems of yoga—Karma Yoga (action), Bhakti Yoga (devotion), Jnana Yoga (knowledge), Hatha and Raja Yoga (body and mind control)—and unites them into a single, synthetic discipline oriented toward the supramental transformation of the entire being. Sri Aurobindo does not reject earlier yogas but transcends their limitations by placing them within a larger evolutionary framework. The foundation of Integral Yoga lies in Sri Aurobindo's metaphysical vision of reality. He posits a dynamic, evolving cosmos rooted in a single Absolute Reality—the *Sachchidananda* (Existence-Consciousness-Bliss). The Absolute descends into matter through a process of involution and seeks to re-ascend to its source through evolution. Human beings are the midway point of this process: spiritual beings in evolution, capable of conscious participation in the Divine’s unfolding plan.
