Discuss the steps in recording and notification of occupational diseases

An employer-based recording and notification system is more likely to ensure effective collection of occupational disease data. (5) The employers should ensure compliance to the procedures and requirements laid down by the NCA. Use of modern information technology should be made to enhance efficiency of the recording and notification system. 1 Recording
Recording is the procedure by which information on occupational diseases is maintained by the employers at the enterprise level. Occupational diseases may be diagnosed during statutory periodic medical examination. However, it may be detected at health and medical facilities or at occupational disease diagnostic center. The unit to be recorded should be the person affected as a result of an occupational accident or disease.
