Workers’ Participation in Management (WPM) is a fundamental concept in Human Resource Management (HRM) that aims to enhance organizational performance by involving employees in decision-making processes. This participative mechanism serves as a bridge between workers and management, ensuring that employees have a voice in matters that affect their work environment, welfare, and productivity. The concept of WPM has evolved over time, encompassing various levels and forms of participation, and it is now recognized as an important tool for fostering industrial democracy, motivation, and harmonious employer-employee relations. The idea behind workers' participation is that employees, being one of the key stakeholders in an organization, should not be treated merely as hired hands but as partners in the enterprise. It is a shift from autocratic to democratic and participative management style. The concept promotes mutual respect, trust, and collaboration, leading to enhanced employee satisfaction, reduced industrial disputes, and increased organizational effectiveness. The International Labour Organization (ILO) defines workers’ participation as the participation resulting from the practices which increase the scope for employees’ share of influence in decision-making at different tiers of organizational hierarchy with regard to matters of concern to them. In this sense, WPM is a system where workers contribute ideas, express opinions, and in some cases, influence or even decide on key operational and strategic aspects. One of the principal objectives of workers' participation in management is to improve the quality of decisions through the involvement of the workers who possess firsthand knowledge of the ground realities. Workers are often more aware of practical problems in production, safety, and quality control. Their insights can thus lead to more effective decisions.
