Event management is made up of a number of management areas like planning,organizing, leading, marketing, design, control and budgeting, staging, risk management, logistics and evaluation. Each area affects the other during theevent life cycle. Project management integrates all these management tasksnecessary to oversee the work before, during and post-event with the aim ofcontrolling the risk and potential failure by providing a clear direction that alignswith strategic goal and objectives of the event.

Phases in Project Management for Events

The first phase is called Initiationin which the idea and concept of the event is developed as well as the objectivesare set. The second phase is project planning. In this phase whateveris needed is worked out and how it fits together. Different knowledge areas willrequire a separate plan, and these plans are called baseline plans.
