The IoT architecture is generally divided into five key layers:  

### 1. Perception Layer  
The perception layer is the lowest layer in the IoT architecture and is responsible for interacting with the physical environment. This layer includes sensors, actuators, RFID tags, cameras, and other edge devices that collect data from the surroundings. Since it directly interfaces with the physical world, the perception layer is vulnerable to several security threats such as physical tampering, spoofing, and unauthorized access.  

#### Security Concerns in the Perception Layer:  
- Tampering Attacks: Attackers can physically access IoT devices and alter their functionality.  
- Eavesdropping: Wireless communication between sensors and gateways can be intercepted.  
- Node Capturing: Attackers can capture and reprogram sensor nodes to manipulate data.  
- Fake Data Injection: Malicious actors can introduce false data into the system.  

#### Security Solutions for the Perception Layer:  
- Hardware Security Modules (HSMs): Implement secure boot and encryption mechanisms in IoT devices.  
- Physical Security: Use tamper-proof packaging and secure device enclosures.  
- Lightweight Cryptography: Due to resource constraints, lightweight encryption algorithms should be used.  
- Authentication Mechanisms: Ensure strong device authentication before data transmission.
