Political chronicles are among the most important sources for reconstructing the history of the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire. Written mainly by court historians, these works provide valuable information about rulers, wars, administration, succession, diplomacy and political events. However, they were generally produced within the political and ideological framework of the ruling elite and therefore need to be examined critically.
