Digital platforms have become an important space where local issues are discussed, debated, and shared by citizens. One such local issue selected for this study is the poor condition of roads and drainage in the municipal area. Residents frequently discuss potholes, waterlogging, damaged roads, and delays in repair work on platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp community groups, X (formerly Twitter), and local news portals. During the rainy season, these problems become more serious, affecting transportation, public safety, business activities, and access to schools and hospitals. Since the issue has generated continuous online discussions, it is suitable for understanding public opinion through a survey. The primary objective of the survey was to identify how citizens perceive the severity of the road and drainage problem, whether they believe the local administration is responding effectively, and how digital platforms influence awareness and participation regarding the issue. The survey also aimed to understand whether people consider online discussions effective in bringing administrative action. A structured questionnaire was prepared using Google Forms, making it easy to distribute digitally. The survey link was shared through local WhatsApp groups, Facebook community pages, and Telegram channels. To include people who may not regularly use online forms, a few responses were also collected through face-to-face interviews using the same questionnaire. The survey was conducted over one week, and responses from 120 residents were collected. Participants represented different age groups, occupations, educational backgrounds, and residential areas.
