i) Cosmetic

Cosmetics for the hair, such as shampoos and conditioners, are used to improve its appearance and maintain its health.

The Drugs and Cosmetics Act defines certain requirements that cosmetics must meet to ensure their safety for human use. For instance, cosmetics must not contain any ingredients that are harmful or toxic to human health, and they must be free from impurities that can cause harm. The packaging and labeling of cosmetics must also be in compliance with the regulations set forth by the Act.

The Act also establishes the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) to regulate the manufacture, distribution, and sale of cosmetics in India. The CDSCO is responsible for granting licenses to manufacturers, regulating the import and export of cosmetics, and conducting inspections to ensure compliance with the Act's regulations.

The DCC comprises representatives from various stakeholders, including pharmaceutical manufacturers, pharmacists, medical practitioners, and consumer groups. Its members are appointed by the central government and serve in an advisory capacity.
