The National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), also known as Aajeevika, is a flagship program initiated by the Government of India under the Ministry of Rural Development with the primary objective of alleviating rural poverty through sustainable livelihood promotion. Launched in 2011, NRLM seeks to create efficient and sustainable institutional platforms for the rural poor to enhance their access to financial services, skills, and employment opportunities. The program is designed to address the multifaceted aspects of rural poverty by focusing on income generation, social inclusion, capacity building, and empowerment of women in particular.
