The increasing frequency and intensity of disasters, both natural and man-made, have brought to light the urgent need to integrate Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) with Sustainable Development. Disasters, if not properly managed, can reverse decades of development gains and severely affect vulnerable populations. Hence, DRR and sustainable development are not two separate agendas but interdependent processes that must go hand in hand.
