Answer the following questions in about 700 words each. Each question carries 20 marks. 2X20-40
1) Discuss the role of a financial system in a modern economy. What functions do financial institutions, markets and instruments perform? Explain the concept of flow-of-funds in macroeconomy.
2) Discuss the Markowitz theory of efficient portfolio selection. How does the Capital Asset Pricing Theory (CAPM) theory build on it?
Section B
Answer the following questions in about 400 words each. Each question carries 12marks.
3) Critically examine the major theories that have been put forward to explain the term structure of interest rates.
4) Discuss the Black-Scholes formula on derivative pricing.
5) Discuss the concept of leverage for a firm. Discuss the important financial and leverage ratios used. Explain the Merton-Miller theorem.
6) Explain the need for and role of depository systems in secondary markets. Explain the concept of custodial services.
7) Suppose there are two large economies. One has fixed exchange-rate system. The other has flexible exchange rate system. Compare monetary policy in both.

2.मार्कोविट्स के कुशल पोर्टफोलियों चयन की चर्चा कीजिए। पूँजी परिसम्पत्ति मूल्य निर्धारण सिद्धांत इस पर कैसे आधारित है?

3. व्याज दर की शर्त ढाँचा से संबंधित विभिन्न सिद्धांतों की आलोचनात्मक जाँच कीजिए।

5. किसी फर्म के लिवरेज की संकल्पना की चर्चा कीजिए। उपयोग किए जाने वाले मुख्य वित्तीय तथा लिवरेज अनुपातों की चर्चा कीजिए। मर्टन-मिलर प्रमेय समझाइये।
6. हैतीय बाजारों में जमा प्रणाली को आवश्यकता तथा भूमिका समझाइये। कस्टोडियल सेवा के संकल्पना को समझाइये।
7. मान लीजिए दो बड़े देश हैं एक में स्थिर विनिमय दर प्रणाली है दूसरे देश में बर विनिमय दर प्रणाली है दोनों देशों के मुद्रा प्रणाली की तुलना कीजिए।
