کون لکھ سکتا ہے پھر عمرِ گذشتہ کی کتاب
بیتے لمحات کے سوئے ہوئے طوفانوں میں
تیرتے پھرتے ہیں پھوٹی ہوئی آنکھوں کے حباب
تابشِ رنگِ شفق، آتشِ روئے خورشید
مل کے چہرے پہ سحر آئی ہے خونِ احباب
جانے کس موڑ پہ کس راہ میں کیا بیتی ہے
کس سے ممکن ہے تمناؤں کے زخموں کا حساب
آستینوں کو پکاریں گے کہاں تک آنسو
اب تو دامن کو پکڑتے ہیں لہو کے گرداب
دیکھتی پھرتی ہے ایک ایک کا مُنہ خاموشی
جانے کیا بات ہے شرمندہ ہے اندازِ خطاب
دربدر ٹھوکریں کھاتے ہوئے پھرتے ہیں سوال
اور مجرم کی طرح ان سے گریزاں ہے جواب
سرکشی، پھر میں تجھے آج صدا دیتا ہوں
میں ترا شاعرِ آوارہ و بے باک و خراب
پھینک پھر جذبۂ بے تاب کی عالم پہ کمند
ایک خواب اور بھی اے ہمتِ دشوار پسند
یا
آنکھیں تری تلاش میں ہیں محوِ جستجو
آ ! اے عروسِ حبِ وطن میرے بر میں تو
آ مجھ سے ہم کنار ہو اے شوخِ خوب رو
آ ! اے نگار ! تجھ کو گلے سے لگاؤں میں
گردن ہو تیری اور مرے دستِ آرزو
وہ دن خدا کرے کہ مناؤں شبِ وصال
میرا مشامِ جاں ہو تری زلفِ مشک بو
زانو ہو تیرا اور سرِ شوریدہ ہو مرا
خلوت میں ہو نہ ذکرِ مے و شیشہ و سبو
تیری شرابِ عشق کا آنکھوں میں ہو سرور
بانہیں ترے گلے میں ہوں ، لب پر یہ گفتگو
لپٹوں میں بے خودی میں جو تجھ سے شبِ وصال
پھوٹے وہ آنکھ جس کو نہ ہو تیری جستجو
ٹوٹیں وہ پاؤں جن کو نہ تیری تلاش ہو
وہ دل ہو داغ جس میں نہ ہو تیری آرزو
وہ گھر ہو بے چراغ جہاں تیری ضو نہ ہو
تیرے سوا جو غیر کی ہو مجھ کو جستجو
دنیا و آخرت میں نہ انجام ہو بہ خیر
کافر ہوں میں جو مجھ کو بتوں کی ہو آرزو
حوروں پہ میں مروں تو جہنم نصیب ہو
اس کے لیے کہ جس کا پرستش کدہ ہے تو
ناقوس اور اذاں میں نہیں قیدِ کفر و دیں
تیرا اشارہ ہو تو برہمن کرے وضو
گنگا نہائے شیخ اگر تیرا اذن ہو
تیرے فدائیوں میں ہوں اے شوخِ خوب رو
تیرا طریقِ عشق ہی ایمان ہے مرا
جلوہ نہ ہو کسی بتِ رعنا کا سامنے
