1. Write a feature article on the significance of community-driven initiatives in rural development. Include elements that differentiate it from a news report. 

2. Write a development story focused on an ongoing government policy or program (e.g., rural electrification, women empowerment initiatives) using the principles of development communication. 

3. Using examples from Indian media, analyse how political ideologies influence public policy reporting. Write a critique (500 words) on whether the media maintains impartiality.

4. Answer any two of the following questions: 

a. Discuss the evolution of development journalism and its role in addressing the challenges of developing countries.

b. Write an op-ed on a recent public policy decision, presenting a balanced view of its impact on marginalised cor communities.

c. Describe solutions journalism's principles and potential impact on public opinion and policy-making.

1. Read the following information carefully:

"In your town, a free evening tuition centre has started for government school students.

The centre runs from 5 pm to 7 pm.

Around 40 students attend daily.

College students work as volunteer teachers.

The aim is to help weak students and reduce dropout rates.

Parents are happy with this initiative."

Using only this data:

a. Write a News Report in about 200 words.

Focus on facts, keep the language simple and direct, and clearly answer What, Where, When, Who and Why.

b. Write a Feature Story in about 300 words.

Focus on students' feelings, effort and hope. Add a human touch and show why this centre matters in their lives.

2. A local MLA visits your college and promises better classrooms and clean drinking water.

(20 marks)

a. What you must check before trusting this promise as a journalist.

b. Write two questions you will ask the MLA and give rationale why these questions are important.

c. Write in brief explaining how students can show participation in this.

d. How students can show dissent if the promise is not fulfilled while following school rules.

3. Your area has a problem of stray animals on the road causing accidents.

a. Write four reasons why this is a development issue.

b. Write the names of four people you will talk to for information on this issue.

c. Write points of information you want to collect from them.

d. Write four arguments explaining how this story can help society.

4. Government announces:

"Every government school student will get a free tablet for digital learning."

a. Write three benefits of this policy.

b. Write three challenges in applying this policy.

c. Explain how the media should report such policies responsibly.

d. What questions citizens should ask the government about this policy.

5. You are given this data:

In your town:

• Only 2 have libraries
• Students mostly use mobile phones for entertainment
• Very few children read newspapers
• One NGO wants to start a "Reading Sunday" program
