Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is the most advanced stage of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. It weakens the immune system, making the body vulnerable to infections and diseases. Clinical signs of AIDS vary from person to person, depending on the stage of the disease and the individual’s overall health.  

### Clinical Signs of AIDS  
AIDS is diagnosed when the immune system becomes severely compromised, typically when the CD4 cell count drops below 200 cells per cubic millimeter of blood. Opportunistic infections and specific cancers may develop, signaling the progression of HIV to AIDS.  

1. Persistent Fever:  
   Individuals with AIDS often experience prolonged episodes of fever that last for weeks or months. This fever may be due to opportunistic infections, including tuberculosis, fungal infections, or cytomegalovirus.  

2. Severe Weight Loss (Wasting Syndrome):  
   A major symptom of AIDS is significant and unintentional weight loss. This occurs due to chronic infections, poor nutrient absorption, and metabolic imbalances. Wasting syndrome is characterized by a loss of more than 10% of body weight along with chronic diarrhea or fever.  

3. Chronic Diarrhea:  
   One of the most common symptoms of AIDS is prolonged diarrhea, often caused by infections like Cryptosporidium or Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC). This leads to severe dehydration and malnutrition.  

4. Night Sweats:  
   Many people with AIDS experience drenching night sweats, which are caused by infections like tuberculosis or lymphoma.  

5. Lymphadenopathy (Swollen Lymph Nodes):  
   Persistent and generalized swelling of lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, and groin is a common early sign of HIV progression.  

6. Recurrent Respiratory Infections:  
   AIDS patients are highly susceptible to lung infections like bacterial pneumonia, tuberculosis, and Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP), which can cause persistent coughing, chest pain, and difficulty breathing.
