To explore these changes, I analyzed two episodes from popular Indian web series and compared them with traditional Bollywood films and TV serials.

One of the most noticeable differences between web series and traditional Bollywood films or TV serials is in the nature of storytelling. Web series tend to adopt a more layered and complex narrative structure. For instance, a series like *Mirzapur* on Amazon Prime has a multi-plot structure with intertwined storylines, each exploring the dynamics of power, politics, and crime in the backdrop of rural India. The storytelling in such web series often follows a more episodic format, allowing for greater character development and a deeper exploration of themes. In contrast, traditional Bollywood films usually focus on a single storyline that is resolved within two to three hours. While Bollywood films are often designed to cater to mass audiences, the web series format allows for a slower pace and the opportunity to explore darker or more nuanced themes that would typically be avoided in mainstream cinema. The storytelling in OTT platforms is more flexible, allowing for shows to build tension gradually and often end on cliffhangers, making the audience eager to watch the next episode.

In contrast to Bollywood films, which tend to follow established tropes and formulas for success, web series offer a refreshing departure from the norm.
