The Harris-Todaro model.
The Harris-Todaro model explains rural-urban migration in developing economies. It was developed by John Harris and Michael Todaro in 1970 to analyze why people migrate from rural to urban areas despite high unemployment in cities. The model assumes two sectors: a traditional rural sector with low productivity and a modern urban sector with higher wages but limited jobs.
