Institutional & Administrative Norms

As per the INC, every College/School of Nursing must be attached to a recognized 100 bedded parent hospital. The college must be a separate budget section under the administrative control of the Parent Hospital/Organization. It should have a dedicated building with adequate classrooms, labs, library, auditorium and other facilities as per INC specifications.

The administrative head is the Principal/Dean, who must possess postgraduate nursing qualifications and 8 years of professional experience. There must also be a Vice-Principal position if the intake exceeds 60 students per year.

Faculty & Staff Norms

The INC mandates a student-teacher ratio of 10:1 for Nursing degree programs. This means there must be at least 1 Nursing Tutor for every 10 admitted students. 80% of the total faculty must be on a full-time basis.
