The Square of Opposition is a diagram representing the logical relationships between certain kinds of propositions, formulated within Aristotelian logic. The Square of Opposition was initially developed by Aristotle, and over the centuries, scholars have refined it to reflect relationships of opposition between universal and particular statements, as well as between affirmative and negative statements. 

In classical logic, there are four types of categorical propositions, each expressing a relationship between a subject and a predicate. These propositions are often categorized as follows:

1. A (Universal Affirmative): "All S are P" (All subjects are predicated of the predicate).
2. E (Universal Negative): "No S are P" (No subjects are predicated of the predicate).
3. I (Particular Affirmative): "Some S are P" (Some subjects are predicated of the predicate).
4. O (Particular Negative): "Some S are not P" (Some subjects are not predicated of the predicate).
