Discuss the public and private sector investment pattern in Agriculture in India.

The share of private sector in total agricultural investment, which was around 50 per cent during pre green revolution period (Period I: 1965/66-1973/ 74), reduced to less than 40 per cent during the green revolution period (Period IT: 1974/75-1986/87). However, impressive growth in private investment particularly in the post-liberalisation era and decline in the public investment during the late eighties raised the private sector's share at more than 60 per cent in the recent years (Period ill: 1987/88-1999/00).
