The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is a comprehensive network of satellites and ground-based stations used for providing accurate positioning, navigation, and timing information globally. GLONASS (Globalnaya Navigatsionnaya Sputnikovaya Sistema) is Russia’s version of GNSS, developed and operated by the Russian Federation to compete with the United States' GPS (Global Positioning System).
