The National AIDS Control Programme (NACP) is a major public health programme launched by the Government of India to prevent and control HIV/AIDS. It is implemented by the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The programme was started in 1992 with support from the World Bank and has evolved through different phases to reduce HIV transmission, provide treatment and care, and improve the quality of life of people living with HIV/AIDS.
