The participation of women in the national movement in India was a significant and transformative aspect of the freedom struggle. In the Bhojpur region too, women's education began slowly, with some families encouraging their daughters to learn, thereby laying the groundwork for future political participation. With the emergence of the Indian National Congress and the Swadeshi Movement in the early 20th century, women began entering the political space more assertively. The participation of women in the Swadeshi Movement (1905-1908) was seen in the form of boycotting foreign goods, promoting khadi, and organizing local protests. In areas like Bhojpur, women were involved in spinning charkha and promoting indigenous goods within their communities.
