BIMSTEC, the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation, is a regional organization established in 1997 to promote cooperation and integration among countries in the Bay of Bengal region. It consists of seven member states - Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. BIMSTEC's objective is to enhance regional connectivity, economic cooperation, and people-to-people contact to foster sustainable development and prosperity in the region.
